Spiritual Direction & Other Formational Soul Care Offerings

What is Spiritual Direction?

“We define Christian spiritual direction… as help given by one believer to another that enables the latter to pay attention to God’s personal communication to him or her, to respond to this personally communicating God, to grow in intimacy with this God, and to live out the consequences of the relationship.” (William A. Barry & William J. Connollly)

Spiritual Formation is the process of a Christian being formed into the image of Christ. There are practices and disciplines that can foster this, but true transformation happens when we fall in love with Jesus.

Who might seek spiritual formation? Anyone who wants to explore spiritual questions or desires a deeper relationship with God.

My Approach & FAQ

What might happen as a result of receiving Spiritual Direction?

Spiritual Direction is very personal, and what occurs depends on what God is doing in your life and how you choose to respond. Often people learn to:
*notice God’s activity in their lives

*to be sensitive to His Presence

*to live authentically before Him and others

*to ask the perplexing questions

*to discern God’s voice

*to be still and know that He is God, and more.

“We long to experience God’s presence in this shattered, exquisite world and need help to believe in our own ability to recognize God’s voice…We are exploring how to align ourselves more intentionally with God’s loving presence, desires, instruction and care.” - Jeannette A. Bakke

FAQs

How do I decide if Spiritual Direction or a particular director is right for me?
Typically you set up an appointment to meet with a director. After you get to know a bit about each other and your initial questions get answered, you each pray about whether it’s a good fit for both of you. There is never pressure to proceed with spiritual direction if you are not sure it’s right for you.

How often do you meet for Spiritual Direction?
You usually meet once a month for about an hour.

Is there a fee for Spiritual Direction?

Fees for direction vary from director to director. Roseanne’s fee is $25-$100 per hour, sliding scale for spiritual direction; inquire about calling coaching packages.

Where can I get more information about Spiritual Direction?
